Game of Thrones: War for Westeros pushed to 2027, PlaySide cites quality

PlaySide has delayed its Game of Thrones real-time strategy game War for Westeros to 2027, saying it needs more time to satisfy both RTS players and fans of the source material.

PlaySide announced through its Steam page on July 17 that War for Westeros, a real-time strategy game built on the Game of Thrones license, has slipped to 2027. Players pick one of four factions, House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen, or the Night King, and wage a sprawling war for control of the Seven Kingdoms. Each side fields its own heroes, unit types and strategic mechanics, with real-time battles that mix infantry, cavalry and siege weapons alongside giants and dragons. Unit matchups and terrain are meant to make tactical judgment, not raw numbers, the deciding factor.

In the same development update, the studio showed off heroes such as Jon Snow and Tywin Lannister and detailed how the various unit types play. Explaining the delay, PlaySide said it needs more time to reach the level of polish that will satisfy both RTS players and Game of Thrones fans, and promised to share further details in stages.
